What You Should Know About Moving to Waltham
Last updated 10 months ago
Attending graduate school can sometimes require you to move to another city or even state. If you have just been accepted to an MBA or MS program at Bentley University’s McCallum Graduate School, you may be wondering what to expect when you arrive at Waltham. Here is a guide to some of the major aspects of relocating:
- Notifying the RMV of Your Address Change
If you are moving from another area in Massachusetts, simply visit the Registry of Motor Vehicles online and enter your information in the Change of Address form. If you have a valid driver’s license from another state, you aren’t required to take a driving test, but you will have to wait for a verification of your record.
- Choosing Utility Companies
There are two companies that provide both natural gas and electricity to residents of Waltham: NSTAR and National Grid. For cable and internet, you can choose between Comcast, RCN, and Verizon, depending on the location of your new home.
- Finding Food
When you first move in, you likely will want to eat out, rather than searching for your kitchen implements and buying groceries. Moody Street offers a variety of restaurants with both international and American cuisine, and the nearby Main Street holds everything from delis to fine dining.
- Getting Around
If you didn’t bring a vehicle with you, you can still get around town easily, thanks to the MBTA’s convenient bus and commuter rail system. There are also a number of taxi companies serving the area, and if you live at Bentley’s North Campus student housing, you can ride a shuttle to the main campus.
Bentley University offers convenient housing solutions for students of the McCallum Graduate School of Business. With furnished two- and four-bedroom apartments located one-half mile from the main campus, we make the transition as easy as possible on our students from out of state.
